Surface Fictions is a series performative self-portraits, in which the inherent motion within the image is exaggerated through a digital glitch. Using the underlying properties of streaming video to produce the effect, the resulting images appear painterly from afar, but are made of intricate digital distortions when seen close up. Characters seem to struggle and interact with digital surfaces, like membranes, liquids, or portals.
